Graduate Admissions
William & Mary uses an online application system.
Admission Deadlines and Application Requirements
Recommendations for Admission
All recommendations for admission, except for non-degree seeking students, must be approved by the CDSP Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies. No student will be admitted later than one month before the start of the semester. Because of the time required to obtain a student visa, an international student who does not have a valid F-1 or J-1 record that is transferable from another US institution may not be admitted later than three months before the start of the semester.
Financial Matters
Financial Support
When the admissions committee for a CDSP graduate program recommends a student's admission, it also recommends the level (if any) and kind of financial support offered to the admitted students. The CDSP Dean's Office considers these recommendations and makes them official. Depending on your degree program, an admitted student's financial package might include a tuition waiver, a teaching assistantship or a research assistantship.
Tuition and Fees
Graduate tuition and fees will vary based on your status and course of study. For details, please see the summary of per semester tuition and fees.
To claim in-state status for tuition purposes, students should apply for in-state tuition when submitting their admissions application. This information is submitted during the residency portion of the application. Otherwise, students may complete an Application for Virginia In-state Tuition Privileges. The form and instructions are available from the University Registrar.
Other Financial Assistance
For all forms of federal assistance (for example, the G.I. Bill), the Financial Aid Office follows guidelines from the federal government to assist you in obtaining your benefits. The Office of the University Registrar provides resources you can consult for information and updates as they become available. These offices are your best sources of information for these benefits.
